A short film funded by the Rockefeller Foundation as part of their 100 Resilient Cities project, chronicling the pioneering flood mitigation efforts that helped save Boulder, Colorado.
This piece chronicles the pioneering flood mitigation efforts of Gilbert White, who revolutionized the science of flood control. The lessons he passed on helped save the city of Boulder, Colorado from one of the worst floods in recorded history.
The film profiles City Engineer Bob Harberg, who shows us a bridge designed to break away and swing to the side like a giant gate in heavy flooding. North of Boulder, the town of Lyons was devastated by the September floods, while the mountain town of Salida saw enormous destruction when a mudslide caved in the back of a house in the dead of night.
